FID - Firearms Identification Card

Massachusetts requires persons to have a Firearms Identification Card in order to lawfully purchase or possess a rifle or shotgun.
You must be 18 to apply for an FID, or 14 – 17 with submission of a certificate of
parent or guardian granting permission to apply for an FID Card.

This is a basic 5-hour class that will teach the students: safe handling, operation and care of rifles (semi-automatic, lever action, and bolt action), and shotguns.

The students will be using real firearms, but there will be NO LIVE AMMUNITION used in this class at any time. Students will learn to handle, load and cycle rifles and shotguns using dummy rounds.

At the culmination of the class each student will have to pass a practical exam of safely handling, loading and cycling multiple firearms; along with passing (80% or higher) a 50-question multiple choice written exam.
